I've socialized, faced, twittered, linked and I'm sure I've networked with others socially. I've learned, laughed, and yes sometimes even cried from what I've read, but really people, some of your pictorial posts have made me stop and say "hmm", what of or better yet, not thinking about when posting stuff. Ah, the Digital Age is upon us. Its' given folks a new reason for living. That is, to tell everyone and anyone the agonizing details of their "exciting lives.
My friends at Wikipedia define Social Networking as: "a social structure made up of individuals (or organizations) called "modes" which are tied by one or more specific types of interdependency, such as friendship, kinship, common interest, financial exchange, dislike, relationships beliefs, knowledge or prestige."
Today's Social Networks are definitely social, made up of individuals, some having nothing else to do, they are definitely interdependent, needing to get a life, stop sharing things that should be kept private, it's really not necessary to let everyone know every move you make, every stop you make on any given day, really who cares! What if the cops or IRS are looking for you? If I was really interested, I would put a GPS tracking system on your car. And what's with the use of all these letters; OMG, LOL and other ridiculous acronyms. I know that a four year high school education supposedly doesn't prepare one to achieve in college. But didn't they teach you how to spell? When I was a high school student, we had Spelling Bees. They were held on a national basis. Kids got excited about competing for a slot in the competition. Now they probably say some like who cares or in their vernacular, probably"WC." Does anybody spell anything anymore? I know that speed is APC DU0-001 examof the essence, but let's not get ridiculous. Kids these days do not even use pens and pencils to write. They text! What am I going to give as Bar/Bat Mitzvah gifts? I got 4 fountain pens at mine, and all of them leaked!
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO and others have really built a tremendous business. It was intended as a Networking vehicle to share information amongst friends and associates. Not to share you're most intimate thoughts with the rest of the digitally attached world. I for one don't want to know what time you went to bed or woke up. Nor do I want to read about what you ate or other boring things going on in your life. Let me know the good stuff like a hot date, where you found a great Brooklyn style Pizza Place or maybe the next great business opportunity. Most of all stop posting those meaningless posters that really have nothing to say. Some examples follow. A suggestion might be to create a joke book or an album to pass along to family when you pass to the great beyond Social Networking place. Don't waste good digital space with ludicrous and "stupid" pictorials that have no meaning, at least in this world. Maybe they have some benefit in some mystic land like Oz or Never Never.
I'm not a prude. My suggestions, for whatever it's worth, is stop, look and listens before you "Network." My mind is a horrible thing to waste. To those of you who frequently post, save your fingers, possible broken finger nails and surely reduce your manicuring bills. You'll probably save yourself fromPMI-SP Carpal Tunnel, Fibromyalgia and other painful maladies.
In closing, I have one suggestion, GET A LIFE!
